Miriana Bata is an award winning, Toronto-based photographer interested in the formal and symbolic power of the body. In particular, Miriana focuses on the female form, her latest series Woman, questions the body as site — of hidden sensuality, desire, and weakness — all challenged through the interplay of shadow and light. As a classically trained dancer, Miriana is well versed in the power of body language and in her photographs explores the ways in which meaning can be conveyed through distilled movement and form.
Miriana explores her passion for innate form in a series of scenic landscapes. Her style is unique as it encapsulates the tranquility and textures in a pristine form. Miriana captures the breathtaking essence of the surroundings while sculpting a beautifully composed moment in time. Miriana is a member of the Toronto Guild for Photographic Art and the Toronto Camera Club. The Starbucks exhibit presents images of Toronto and her birthplace of Sofia, Bulgaria.
